Closing Day

Enchanting Moment

She won a maiden for the stable on August 1, then ran back on Closing Day at Del Mar when her intended race didn’t fill. Rail. 6-1 morning line. Rafael Bejarano. A $32,000 claimer against horses who had already won more than once. She finished second — good enough that Bill Spawr’s group offered $35,000 the next day, and the stable sold her. Claimed price would have been $32,000. Purchase was $40,000 plus tax. Purse money was a little over $21,000. After training, jockey and trainer, the stable about broke even.

Enchanting Moment

Not only did she run a great race to finish second on Closing Day at Del Mar, she impressed another barn. Sold. $35,000 to a group training with Bill Spawr, a day after nobody took her for $32,000 in the race. Sandita is next, Monday at Fairplex, $12,500, post four, ten-horse field, seventh race, around 4 p.m.

Del Mar, coming to a close

Enchanting Moment’s intended race did not fill. She is in a tougher $32,000 claimer on Closing Day, the second race, about 2:30 p.m. Rail. 6-1. Bejarano.

Rush With Thunder, Labor Day

In for Monday with Michael Baze. The #6 post in the first race, off at 2 p.m. Expected to be second choice in a field of six. Still no word that Enchanting Moment’s race would be used Monday. Closing Day, or nothing, for her at this meet.

He got it done

Rush With Thunder won on Monday. Third win of the year. Second at Del Mar. Not claimed. Sandita runs Saturday in the third at $16,000, in a field that fits him and will not be easy. Mr. Chairman goes Sunday, Pacific Classic Day.

Two claimed, one running

We have a lot to talk about. We claimed two horses on Friday, and Digestivo will run this Wednesday.
