Recently, the very first batch of containerized chrome powder purchased and customs-declared by Jiangsu Overseas Corporations (SA)(PTY)Ltd(the wholly-owned subsidiary of JSFT) was shipped by COSCO successfully from Durban, South Africa to Tianjin port, meaning a new breakthrough achieved in the layout of whole industrial chain in the metal sector.

South Africa has the world's richest chromium resources, whose reservation and production ranked first in the world. Also, it is also one of the countries who has the richest manganese resources. Chromium and manganese ore resources of South Africa are welcomed by various countries because of high grade and less impurities. JSFT imported more than 4 million tons of chromium and manganese ore resources in 2023, of which more than 80% are from South Africa.

Focusing on the core function positioning, JSFT will build the independent and controllable industrial supply chain system actively. Jiangsu Overseas Corporations (SA)(PTY) relies on the geographical advantage of being close to the resources, opens up the supply chain channel from warehouse in South Africa to China successfully, realizing the extension of chromium and manganese ore business channel to the upstream, enhancing the company’s advantages in the import of chromium and manganese ore resources, making contribution to stablizing the supply chain toughness of domestic chromium and manganese ore industry chain.

In 2024, under the leadership of SOHO Holdings Group and JSFT,Jiangsu Overseas Corporations (SA)(PTY) will implement the important arrangement made on the group’s annual work conference, further perfect the industrial chain, optimize the supply chain, improve the value chain, play the role of bridgehead as Jiangsu’s state-owned enterprise in Africa, and deepen the economic and trade cooperation in the field of minerals with BRICS and countries along the ‘the Belt and the Road’ consistently.
