Not only did Enchanting Moment run a great race to finish
second on Closing Day at Del
Mar, she also impressed another group of owners. That’s right, we sold her! She could have been claimed for $32,000 in
the race, but no one took her. The day
after the race a group of owners and their trainer, Bill Spawr, offered us
$35,000. You might remember we paid
$40,000 (plus tax) for her, but Enchanting Moment won over $21,000 in purse
money. Once you factor in two months of training
bills as well as the jockey and trainer fees, we will just about break even on
her.
Also, Sandita is running this Monday at Fairplex. He is in a $12,500 claiming race, and he drew
the #4 post in a ten-horse field.
Sandita certainly has a good chance to win, but the race came up a
little tougher than we had hoped. It is
the 7th race on the card Monday and is expected to go at 4pm.

Del Mar Season Coming to an End

The Del
Mar season is coming to an end, but we still have two more events:
First, Enchanting Moment, who won a maiden race for us on
August 1, is running on Closing Day. The
race we intended to put her in did not fill, but she is ready to run. Therefore, we were forced to put her in a little
tougher spot than we planned. It’s a
$32,000 claiming race where she will be facing horses that have won multiple
times. Enchanting Moment drew the rail
and is 6-1 on the morning line with Rafael Bejarano aboard. It will go as the second race on Wednesday at
about 2:30pm.

Rush with Thunder Labor Day

Rush With Thunder got in for Labor Day Monday with Michael Baze aboard. He drew the #6 post position in the first race, which goes at 2pm. We expect him to be the second choice in the six-horse field, so we have an excellent chance to win.
Still no word on Enchanting Moment. Her race did not get used for Monday. At this point, it's Closing Day Wednesday or nothing for the Del Mar meet. Let's keep our finger crossed that she gets in for Wednesday. It would be awesome to have a horse running on Closing Day.

Rush With Thunder got it done for us on Monday

Great Friends,
I'm sure most of you are aware, but Rush With Thunder got it done for us on Monday. It was our third win of the year, and our second at Del Mar! New jockey, Mike Baze, got him to relax early in the race, so he could run down the leaders late. Somewhat surprisingly, Rush With Thunder was not claimed, so we will have him for at least one more race.
Sandita is next for the Great Friends Stable. He is running in the 3rd race on Saturday. Sandita has run well for us both times with a close second place finish when running at the $16,000 level and a third place finish at the $20,000 level. He is back in for $16,000 on Saturday, but he drew a pretty tough field. He definitely fits with this group, but a win won't be easy.
Mr. Chairman is entered on Pacific Classic Day, this Sunday. He will be running for a $97,500 purse, so needless to say, this is a very important race for the Great Friends Stable. Mr. Chairman will be stretching out to 1 3/8 miles, and he will be facing only five rivals. His race is the first race of the day, and we think with a little racing luck (which he hasn't had yet), he will be right in the thick of things. If you plan on coming out, the first race is at 2pm, so try to arrive by at least 1:30pm.
Here is a quick overview of where we are tentatively planning to run the other horses in the stable this meet. Remember, plans do change, and we will keep you posted.

The race in which we intended to run Rush With Thunder on Monday did not get enough entries, so it was cancelled.However, a new race was added, and since he is ready to run, we decided to go for it.It is the 4th race on Monday, and Rush With Thunder drew the #3 position in the six-horse field.We like his chances.
